FAQs
Is sandstone paving a good choice for patios?
Yes, sandstone patios are a practical, attractive and affordable option for UK homeowners!
Indian sandstone can be supplied in a host of colours and textures to suit both modern and traditional settings. It’s also easy to cut and lay, despite being very hardwearing. This makes it ideal for outdoor areas that need to withstand the elements, and lasts for many years if installed correctly.
Better still, sandstone paving is naturally slip-resistant thanks to its subtly textured surface, which provides good grip even in wet conditions. That said, if you’re worried about potential unevenness, we can supply slightly smoother tumbled slabs.
What complementary products do you stock?
Alongside paving slabs, we can also supply complementary bullnose-edged sandstone for steps, pool edges and wall copings, and matching edging stones. Square cobbles work well for patio borders, whilst our 40mm sandstone edging pavers give patios and paths a neat finish.
Want to add a decorative focal point to your garden? We can also supply feature paving circles by special order, with a lead time of 8-12 weeks. Just ask a member of our team.
Additionally, we stock a selection of quality jointing compounds, sealants and cutting discs to aid the installation process. Plus patio cleaning products to help keep it in great condition.
Where do you source your sandstone garden slabs?
Over the past 20 years we have established strong relationships with stone suppliers and quarries worldwide. All of our sandstone paving is imported directly from India, where it is quarried, cut and calibrated to ensure quality and a consistent thickness. Indian sandstone is known for its quality, colour variation and naturally weathered appearance. As such, you’ll have a choice of earthy colours and distinctive textures that are ideal for garden paths, patios and features.
Does Indian sandstone paving need to be sealed?
While sealing isn’t essential, it’s highly recommended for Indian sandstone. Like all natural stone, It is porous and so will absorb moisture, dirt and oils, especially in high-traffic areas or near barbecues. A good sealant provides a barrier against this to prevent staining and minimise algae growth, whilst making cleaning easier too. It can also help to protect the pointing between your slabs.
At Love Stone, we supply several professional-grade sealants including invisible (natural-look) options and colour-enhancing formulas. Unlike surface coatings, these penetrating sealants soak into the stone for longer-lasting protection without making the surface slippery when wet.
Are sandstone slabs easy to cut and shape?
Sandstone paving slabs are easy to cut, and we stock a variety of cutting discs suited to the task. Whether you’re shaping slabs for borders or need custom pieces for a feature, we can provide expert advice on cutting and finishing.
Or, if you’d rather leave it to the professionals, we also offer a bespoke cutting service for more complex requirements. This includes radius cuts (for creating curves or rounded patios) and bullnose edges for steps, pool surrounds or bespoke wall copings.
How much does delivery cost?
Product and delivery prices vary depending on your location, the weight of your order and current shipping and import costs. As such, we don’t publish fixed prices online. However, we’ll always provide a full quote before you place your order, including delivery costs if applicable.
We offer national delivery via haulage partners, or you’re welcome to collect directly from our landscaping centre in Ewshot, near Farnham. We can also split paving packs to supply the exact quantity of slabs you need to reduce waste and keep costs down. Get in touch to discuss your needs.
